LYSOCIL Winter Retreat 2021

The LYSOCIL Winter Retreat was held from January 20 to 21, 2021 through Zoom platform. This event was dedicated to Molecular mechanisms of disease, New therapies and Challenges in translational research. It had the participation of international renown experts such as: Gregory Pazour from the University of Massachusetts, Emily Eden from UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, Frances Platt from the University of Oxford, Verena Mummert from Ethris GmbH, Heymut Omran from Münster University and Pete Coffey from the University College London. This event had 55 attendees per day with fruitful discussions towards the latest discoveries in these themes. Internal parallel sessions also took place especially dedicated to the methods to analyse lysosomes and to the lysosome, cilia and autophagy connection. The LYSOCIL External Advisory Board (EAB) also gathered for its annual meeting to access and advice on the successful project´s implementation.

LYSOCIL CEDOC-NMS I FCM special seminar with Kerem Pekkan

On 13rd
January 2021, it was launched a series of
special LYSOCIL CEDOC-NMS I FCM seminars with invited experts outside the
consortium that are internationally-leading scientists doing cutting-edge work
related with rare diseases. This special series of seminars with world-leading
experts in the field will increase the portfolio of expertise accessible to the
LYSOCIL research community and enhance the international visibility of the
project. The first LYSOCIL CEDOC-NMS I FCM special seminar was held by
online Zoom platform and it was presented by Dr. Kerem Pekkan, from Koc University (Istanbul). This seminar was
dedicated to "Biofluid mechanics and mechanobiology in congenital heart
defects and olfaction".
LYSOCIL Coordinator is the new member of the Scientific Council of the Sanfilippo Association in Portugal
The LYSOCIL Coordinator, Duarte Barral, is the
new member of the Scientific Council of the Sanfilippo Association in Portugal. This invitation
reinforces the ongoing collaboration between the LYSOCIL project and the
Sanfilippo Association.
Retina Interest Group – 2nd Virtual Meeting

On 9th January 2021 it was held the “Retina
Interest Group” second virtual meeting via Zoom. The LYSOCIL project was
presented by Duarte Barral and Susana Lopes mainly focusing on the project´s
activities. This meeting aimed to increase the cooperation between CEDOC-NMS I
FCM research groups in the field of vision and ophthalmology clinicians and had
the participation 20 attendees.
